Sitemap analyzer
Quick answer
Enter a sitemap's URL or paste its XML and the analyzer breaks it down: how many URLs sit under each top-level section of the site, how many were modified in the last week, month, year or longer, how many have no lastmod, and which changefreq and priority values are used. It shows where a site is growing and which parts have gone stale.
Sections
A section is the first part of a URL's path: /blog/a and /blog/b are both under /blog.
Frequently asked questions
What can a sitemap tell me about a site?
Its shape: which sections hold the most pages, how much of it changes, and how old the rest is. A large section with old lastmod dates is a candidate for a refresh or a cut.
Why do many of my URLs have no lastmod?
Many generators leave it out. Google uses lastmod when it is consistently accurate, so set it from the date the page content really changed, not the date the file was built.
Should every page say changefreq daily?
No. Google ignores changefreq, and a value that does not match reality tells other crawlers nothing.
